Glutamate

Glutamate is a primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain which acts to fire neurons up and is the yin to GABA’s yang. It plays an important role in attention, learning, memory and neuroplasticity. Overactivity in glutamate receptors is linked to schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety and depression.Tsapakis, E.
